LAWN TIP
- Proper fertilizing of your lawn is not the only thing that makes it beautiful. Other maintenance practices work together with proper fertilization to maintain a beautiful lawn. One of them is proper mowing! Yes, it is a huge part of keeping a beautiful, thick and green lawn. Mow at least once per week. Make sure whoever is mowing your lawn keeps a sharp blade to prevent tearing of the grass leaf, which can lead to browning of the tips, and more susceptibility to disease. Avoid cutting more than one third of the grass blade off at one time to prevent yellowing of the lawn- that takes weeks to go away. Bagging or mulching the lawn when you cut it are both OK, that is more of a personal preference. Leaving too many clippings can cause problems. A benefit of mulching is that the lawn re-uses nutrients from the mulched grass to keep the soil nutrient rich!
