Fertilizer

Fertilize regularly for a beautiful lawn all season long.

FERTILIZER PROGRAMS

At Happy Roots, we offer 3 different fertilizer programs which include multiple applications.  We use a granular fertilizer that is locally mixed with seasonal blends of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and iron.  Our application rates give your lawn a balanced feeding at each application to keep your lawn green and thick all season.  Happy Roots uses a local brand of fertilizer that is used on many of the local parks, golf courses and commercial properties.

We do not offer one-time fertilization services.  We have found that you will have much “Happier Roots” if you feed your lawn regularly throughout the season.
Pricing is based on the size of your lawn.  To get a quote, fill out the “Get a Free Quote” form below.

Before Happy Roots

After a few months on Happy Roots Silver Plan

After HR’s sprinkler programming, mowing advice, and Silver Plan for two months.

1. Gold Plan

The Gold Program is designed to give our customers the best of everything your lawn needs to thrive.  It includes the best we have to offer for feeding frequency, aeration, pre-emergent annual weed control, and water savings products.  This is the plan that Les uses on his own yard.  With proper watering, this program is sure to give you a beautiful lawn!

The Gold Plan includes

  1. Six* seasonal applications of Fertilizer, including a Late Winterizer.  All applications will include a seasonal blend of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Iron.
  2. Five* seasonal applications of Weed Control for your lawn.  This is applied at the same time as fertilizer, with the exception of the Winterizer.
  3. Spring and fall Aerations.
  4. Two* spring applications of Pre-emergent for Crabgrass and annual weed seed control.
  5. Six* EZ Wet (Revive) applications with fertilizer.  This helps the fertilizer and water you put on your lawn go deeper into the soil and root zone and has proven to be very effective over the years we have applied it.  This wetting agent helps you get the most use out of the water you put down, and really helps you keep that edge in the hot and dry seasons.
  6. Fall Over Seeding.  Even if you don’t have a “Thin” yard, over seeding in the fall will give you the best opportunity keep the grass you “want” in your lawn and keep it thick.

2. Silver Plan

The Silver Program is designed for those who want the best we have to offer, but are on a  budget.  Many of the same products and services from the Gold Plan are in this plan, but they are scaled down a little to save you some money.  This is a great plan for those who want the Gold Plan, but need to cut a few things to save the budget.

The Silver Plan Includes:

  1. Five* seasonal applications of Fertilizer.  All applications will include a seasonal blend of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Iron.
  2. Five* seasonal applications of Weed Control for your lawn.  This is applied at the same time as fertilizer.
  3. Spring and fall Aerations.
  4. Two* spring applications of Pre-emergent for Crabgrass and annual weed seed control.
  5. Three EZ Wet (Revive) applications with your summer fertilizer applications.

3. Bronze Plan

The Bronze Program is very basic, but you have the ability to add services to it if you’d like.  The Bronze Program is the minimum we recommend for a yearly feeding and aeration program, but still produces great results.  It doesn’t come with our water efficient products, pre-emergent, double aeration’s, or winterizer, but is be good for a seasonal feeding program.

The Bronze Plan Includes:

  1. Four* seasonal applications of Fertilizer, which is the minimum we would recommended for your lawn in Colorado.  All applications include a seasonal blend of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Iron.
  2. Four* seasonal applications of Weed Control for your lawn.  This is applied at the same time as fertilizer.
  3. Two EZ Wet/Revive applications with fertilizer.  This helps the fertilizer and water you put on your lawn go deeper into the soil and root zone and has proven to be very effective over the years we have applied it.  This wetting agent helps you get the most use out of the water you put down, and really helps you keep that edge in the hot and dry seasons.
  4. Spring and fall Aerations.

Fertilizing Tips

WHEN DO I FERTILIZE?

Fertilize right after an aeration in the spring and fall. Also fertilize a couple of times in the summer months and right before winter sets in.  Fertilizing 4-6 times per year at a rate of 3/4 to 1 pound of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn per application is recommended for our area.  Using a mixture with iron will give your lawn a darker green color.  Applying EZ Wet (Revive) with fertilizer treatments will help the fertilizer and water you put down penetrate deeper into the soil.  If you can afford EZ Wet (Revive) applications with all of your fertilizer treatments, it is well worth it.  We have had excellent results with this combination, when the lawn is properly watered.

DO I NEED TO WATER BEFORE OR AFTER A FERTILIZER TREATMENT?

There is no need to water prior to one of our fertilizer treatments, unless you are having the lawn aerated.  When you have your lawn aerated, you need to water before the service, but fertilizer treatments require watering after the treatment.  You will need to water your fertilizer in within a couple of days of the application and continue to water regularly each week for best results.  If you’ve had your weeds sprayed, you will want to wait 24 hours before you water, to let the weed killer set on the leaves of the weeds and soak in as long as possible.

IS HAPPY ROOTS FERTILIZER SAFE FOR PETS AND KIDS?

Yes, our fertilizer is safe for pets and kids.  Our granular fertilizer is pesticide free.  We have kids, dogs and cats and we use the exact same products on our lawn that we use on yours.  Weed, fungus, and insect control treatments are products that  you will want to keep kids and pets off of the lawn or rock areas until the product is dry and/or watered in.  If these products are ever used on your lawn or rock areas, you would be notified with a yellow caution flag and door hanger that has instructions.
