Winter Watering

hose and sprinkelr watering

It was 62 degrees today in Denver!  Yes on December 7th, that’s what I love about Colorado.  It has been warm and dry for a couple of months now, and with irrigation systems shut down, your landscape is starting to dry out.  That means it’s time to winter water.   I would strongly recommend getting the hose and sprinkler out while it is warm this week, and give your lawn, trees, and shrubs a good soaking.

Winter watering prevents unneeded stress, and,  helps prevent damage to your lawn.  One of the biggest problems that can be caused by a dry, warm, and windy winter, is Mite damage in your lawn.  The symptoms of Mite damage are dead spots in your lawn, usually on south facing areas of  your lawn.  The damage appears in late winter and early spring.  All you need to do to prevent this damage is winter water regularly, once or twice per month during dry winters.  If we are getting plenty of snow, then winter watering is not necessary.

  • These guys are the best!  It addition to their A+ service, they also have a strong management team that is in constant communication with their customers. This includes not only scheduling but also helpful reminders such as how to drain your irrigation system when a freeze is coming.”
