Winter Watering

hose and sprinkelr watering

It was 62 degrees today in Denver!  Yes on December 7th, that’s what I love about Colorado.  It has been warm and dry for a couple of months now, and with irrigation systems shut down, your landscape is starting to dry out.  That means it’s time to winter water.   I would strongly recommend getting the hose and sprinkler out while it is warm this week, and give your lawn, trees, and shrubs a good soaking.

Winter watering prevents unneeded stress, and,  helps prevent damage to your lawn.  One of the biggest problems that can be caused by a dry, warm, and windy winter, is Mite damage in your lawn.  The symptoms of Mite damage are dead spots in your lawn, usually on south facing areas of  your lawn.  The damage appears in late winter and early spring.  All you need to do to prevent this damage is winter water regularly, once or twice per month during dry winters.  If we are getting plenty of snow, then winter watering is not necessary.

  • “Les and his team have this lawn care thing down to a science. my lawn looks awesome and although I was hesitant to sign up for their weekly mowing, it’s 100 some degrees out here and these guys knocked out a mow in 15 minutes, what would take over an hour by myself.”
