Winter Watering
We have had a very cold winter, but not much moisture. I know the snow was on the ground for a long time in the shady areas and some of you may still have snow on the north side of your house, but overall it has not been a very wet winter. When you get a little time over the next week, I would encourage you to pull your hose out (If you’re not ready to turn on your sprinkler yet) and water your lawn, trees and shrubs. Your plants are pulling moisture up from the ground right now more than ever, getting ready to start the spring growth. Even if we get some rain/snow tomorrow, I would start some end of winter watering, unless of course it is a significant amount of snow.
My arborvitaes in my back yard were starting to turn a little brown on the south side a couple of weeks ago, so I have been watering them by hand twice a week and they are already starting to come out of it.
Also, I just want to remind the mowing and fertilizing program customers who are renewing and haven’t sent in their renewal for 2010, to get their renewal information back to me as soon as possible, so I can get the paperwork done before the season starts. Here are the two separate links to renew quickly online. Mowing – https://coloradohappyroots.com/?cat=31 Fertilizer Programs – https://coloradohappyroots.com/?cat=32 . You can save 5% on your services for 2010 if you pre-pay by March 15th. We’ve already had several customers take advantage of this option. You end up getting a free service or two in most cases.
I will have more lawn, sprinkler and landscape tips in the weeks and months to come. Please look for them and let me know if you have any questions. Also check the website periodically, for blogs, pictures and helpful tips.
If you would like to opt out of these updates and seasonal tips, please reply to this message and let me know.
