Who remembers last years Mite issue in lawns?
The yard pictured above had mite damage!
This is caused by dry winters, and early springs. Mites thrive in hot and dry conditions, so lawns that are on the warmer, and dryer side of your property are more susceptible. These are typically the south facing lawns, especially if they are sloped!
This was such a problem last year, that we sent a full time crew out to do repairs for our customers for a month straight!
The reason I bring it up now, is that we are having another dry winter. Actually so far, it’s drier than last winter. The Thornton, Broomfield, and Brighton areas here in Colorado have only received 16 inches of snow so far this snow season, and we usually average 28.2 inches by this time. So we are over a foot of snow behind. We still have a few good snow months left, so we could catch up, but if we don’t there is something you can do to help keep your lawn mite free!
The answer is water! I know your sprinkler system isn’t on right now, so you will want to pull out your garden hose and soak your lawn, trees, and shrubs 2-4 times per month if it stays dry. This will help everything tremendously!! Your lawn, trees, and shrubs will LOVE you for this. These are living things, and they need water just like you and I to be strong, healthy, and to survive!
So on these nice weekends we keep having, get your garden hose out and do some watering. If you don’t have the time, get a hold of us, and we will send a technician out to take care of it for you.
