Happy Roots lawn mowing service was started in Thornton, Colorado in April of 2005. The interesting thing is that when Les started Happy Roots Inc., he had no intentions of mowing lawns. Lawn health was the focus of our business. Meaning, Les was going to concentrate on services that created a lush, green, weed free lawn. The services that help accomplish that are lawn fertilizer (food), aeration, spraying weeds, and the most important, proper water! The slogan, you can’t have a beautiful lawn without “Happy Roots”, came about through the vision of lawn health that Les had for all of the lawns that Happy Roots had the privilege to work on in Thornton Co., and the surrounding areas.
But a man named Chuck changed that original intent. As Les went door to door in the Quail Valley subdivision in Thornton to start Happy Roots, he came across Chucks house. Chuck was definitely interested in the services Les had to offer with his new company Happy Roots, but Chuck also needed lawn mowing! Les told Chuck several times that he wasn’t going to offer lawn mowing as a service, but Chuck asked several more times in the 1/2 hour long conversation. By the end of the conversation, Chuck had Les considering the thought of mowing his lawn.
In the end, Les decided he would mow Chuck’s lawn, and add about 7 more lawns to start that first year. Taking a few more lawns would make it worth the effort of putting together a lawn mowing truck and trailer setup. So we can all thank Chuck for his “I won’t take no for an answer” mentality. Chuck and Carol were one of Happy Roots original clients, and stayed clients for many years. Since then, they have both passed on, but they will always hold a dear spot in the Happy Roots hearts, and beginnings! God Bless Chuck, and Carol, they were amazing people!
Today Happy Roots mows hundreds of residential lawns every week from March to October. We have Chuck to thank for being the first one to show us the need our community has for a crisp, clean, professional mow, to go along with our lawn health programs. The professional mow is the icing on the cake. Cakes are just better with icing right! A green, lush, thick weed free lawn looks better with a great mow, trim, and edge!! Thank you Chuck!!
